Why Does My Chimney Need Sweeping?
Deposits from combustion, including soot, tar and creosote can build up in a chimney and without intervention will either block the flue, leading to dangerous gases entering the room, or will catch fire, causing extensive (and expensive) damage.
How often and when should I have my chimney swept?
All working chimneys should be swept and checked annually. Some may need sweeping more often if in constant use.
The ideal time time for sweeping is when the chimney is not in use. Usually between April and October. Most people wait until the last minute to book a sweep and therefore from September to December is a very busy time for us. Why not be organised and book us in earlier in the year?
Why should I use a NACS and HETAS approved sweep?
A NACS trained and HETAS approved sweep is a qualified professional. Fully equipped, insured and experienced, you can be confident that the work will be carried out to the highest standard.
Do I need to do anything before the sweep arrives?
Clearing the ash from the firebed is helpful but not essential. Just make sure the fire is not alight and the kettle is on!
Do you send small boys up the chimney?
